The Eagle Base Ball Club, of this city, through their Secretary, have challenged the Silver Moon Base Club of Belleville to a match game of base ball. As yet, the Silver Moons have not accepted, but the probabilities are that they will do so.-Missouri Republican, August 6, 1869
Is the first reference that I've found to the Silver Moons of Belleville. Don't know anything about them but that's a great name for a ball club.
